The next Conference is planned for 2012.
NACTMUS presents conferences periodically, as a forum for members’ research, and for more extended networking than is possible at the regular meetings. The conference themes are selected so as to focus on issues that are not normally dealt with by other cognate organisations, but which are of key interest to Australian academics working in music. These have included: future directions for tertiary curriculum in the 21st century; the dynamic nature of the music industry and how this relates to higher education, and the music culture of Australia.
To date, two conferences have been held:
June 30 – July 2, 2001 in Byron Bay, New South Wales -
Creating Musical Futures: Challenges to Music Education in the 21st Century
June 29 – July 1, 2007 in Brisbane, Queensland -
Music in Australian Tertiary Institutions: Issues for the 21st Century
The next conference is planned for 2012, time and place TBA.
A selection of the papers is available under Publications.
